The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you-A short Story

A woman baked chapatti (roti) for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chapatti on the window sill, for whosoever would take it away. Every day, a hunchback came and took away the chapatti. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: “The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!” This went on, day after day. Every day, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and uttered the words:

“The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!” The woman felt irritated. “Not a word of gratitude,” she said to herself… “Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?” One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. “I shall get rid of this hunchback,” she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chapatti she prepared for him!

As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. “What is this I am doing?” she said. Immediately, she threw the chapatti into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and muttered the words: “The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!”

The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mind of the woman. Every day, as the woman placed the chapatti on the window sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek his fortune. For many months, she had no news of him.. She prayed for his safe return.

That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she was surprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved and weak. As he saw his mother, he said, “Mom, it’s a miracle I’m here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. I would have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a whole chapatti. As he gave it to me, he said, “This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!”

” As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale. She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chapatti that she had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life!

It was then that she realized the significance of the words: “The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!” Do good and Don’t ever stop doing good, even if it is not appreciated at that time. If you like this, share it with others and I bet so many lives would be touched.

Time is flying

Ever sat in front of a clock and watched the seconds go by?

It's never ending, it's persistent and it never stops!
It might seem like a mundane or ordinary activity. Yet in those ticks, your life is being spent and you're losing time!

Remember: -

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a pre-mature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.
Time is valued differently by different people and it's a true blessing for someone to understand and internalize that time is the substance of life in which man exists and does either good or bad.

The Scholar, Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, has a beautiful saying that says "The intelligent is the one who is conscious of his time, and if he loses it then he would lost all his interests, for all interests derive from time, and whenever time is lost it can never be regained!"

Father and Son in Restaurant

A son took his old father to a restaurant for an evening dinner.
Father being very old and weak, while eating, dropped food on his shirt and trousers.

Others diners watched him in disgust while his son was calm.
After he finished eating, his son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the wash room, wiped the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted his spectacles firmly. When they came out, the entire restaurant was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could embarrass themselves publicly like that.

The son settled the bill and started walking out with his father.
At that time, an old man amongst the diners
called out to the son and asked him, "Don't you think you have left something behind?".

The son replied, "No sir, I haven't".
The old man retorted, "Yes, you have! You left a lesson for every son and hope for every father".
The restaurant went silent.

Man O Man

Man O Man!
When without money,
eats vegetables at home;
When has money,
eats the same vegetables in a fine restaurant.

When without money, rides bicycle;
When has money rides the same 'exercise machine'.

When without money walks to earn food
when has money, walks to burn fat;
Man O Man! Never fails to deceive thyself!

When without money,
wishes to get married;
When has money,
wishes to get divorced.

When without money, acts like a rich man;
When has money acts like a poor man.
Man O Man! Never can tell the simple truth!

Says market is bad,
but keeps speculating;
Says money is evil,
but keeps accumulating.

Says high Positions are lonely,
but keeps wanting them.

Man O Man! Never mean what he says and never says what he mean.

Train of Life

At birth we boarded the train and met our parents,
and we believe they will always travel on our side.

However, at some station
our parents will step down from the train,
leaving us on this journey alone.

As time goes by,
other people will board the train;
and they will be significant
i.e. our siblings, friends, children,
and even the love of your life.

Many will step down
and leave a permanent vacuum.

Others will go so unnoticed
that we don't realize
they vacated their seats.

This train ride will be full of joy,
sorrow, fantasy, expectations,
hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.

Success consists of having a good relationship
with all passengers
requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is:
We do not know at which station
we ourselves will step down.

So, we must live in the best way,
love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are.

It is important to do
this because when the time comes for us to step down
and leave our seat empty
we should leave behind beautiful memories
for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

I wish you a joyful journey on the train of life.
Reap success and give lots of love.
More importantly, thank God for the journey.

Lastly, I thank you
for being one of the passengers on my train.

Tick Tock Tick Tock - What’s the Message

Tick..tock.. tick..tock.. tick..tock..
Ever sat in front of a clock and watched the seconds go by?..
It's never ending.. it's persistent..it never stops..
It might seem like a mundane activity.. yet in those ticks, your life is being spent..and you're losing time!
I read the following somewhere on the internet and I wanted to share it with you..
  • - To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade..
  • - To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a pre-mature baby..
  • - To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper..
  • - To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train..
  • - To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident..
  • - To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics..
It's very true..Time is valued differently by different people and it's a true blessing for someone to understand and internalize that time is the substance of life in which man exists and does either good or bad.

Rich at Heart

Once, a lady with her family was staying in a 3-star hotel for a picnic. She was the mother of a 6 month old baby.
"Can I get 1 cup of milk?" asked the lady to the 3-star hotel manager.
"Yes madam", he replied.
"But it will cost 100 bucks". "No problem", said the lady.
While driving back from hotel, the child was hungry again.
They stopped at a road side tea stall and took milk from the tea vendor
"How much?" she asked the tea vendor.
"Madam, we don't charge money for kid's milk", the old man said with a smile.
"Let me know if you need more for the journey". The lady took one more cup and left.
She wondered, Who's richer? The hotel manager or the old tea vendor?

Who is poor? A wealthy woman goes to a boutique shop and tells the boy at the counter "Please show some cheap suit. It is my son's marriage and I have to give to my maid."
After sometime, the maid comes to the boutique shop and tells the boy at the counter "Please show some expensive suits. I want to gift my Mistress on her son's marriage"
Poverty is in the mind or in the purse?
