Mercy of Allah

"My Mercy encompasses all things." (Qur'an 7:156)

"Then which of your Lord’s favors will you ˹humans and jinn˺ both deny?" (Qur’an 55:13)
Human beings cannot fully comprehend the vastness of God’s mercy. It is His mercy that upholds stability and sustains all of creation. He sends rain from the sky, allowing the earth to produce vegetation and essential resources. He has perfectly balanced the heavens and set the worlds within them in order.
● Signs of His Mercy
Consider the Earth: it continuously rotates on its axis and orbits the Sun, yet we do not feel the tremors of its movement. What prevents an asteroid or comet from colliding with our small planet? Who has established the precise balance of the laws of physics?
Look within ourselves—take the digestive system, for example. It is intricately designed to process food, extract nutrients, provide energy, and eliminate waste, all without our conscious control.
"He who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a canopy, and sent down from the sky rain, bringing forth fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]." (Quran 2:22)
The human body, though composed of mere flesh and bone, functions with intricate precision. Countless processes occur within us at every moment—many beyond our voluntary control. Science continues to explore the complexities of digestion, sleep, and the human mind. The study of dreams, for instance, has only recently gained attention. The delicate balance of our biology and psychology is a marvel that mankind has only begun to grasp. These are all signs of God's mercy and majesty. How, then, can we deny His mercy?
"Do you not see that God has subjected to you (mankind) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His command? He withholds the sky from falling upon the earth except by His permission. Verily, God is, for mankind, full of kindness, Most Merciful." (Quran 22:65)
● Divine Guidance: The Ultimate Mercy
God, in His mercy, not only created and sustains everything but also provided guidance for humanity. If we follow His guidance, we will not go astray, and it will lead us to ultimate success. He is our Creator and Master.
Islam is a universal religion, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent as a messenger to all people—regardless of race, color, culture, traditions, or geographical location—as well as to other beings, such as jinn and all life forms across time. The Qur’an clearly states:
"We have only sent you (O Muhammad) as a mercy to all the worlds." (Quran 21:107)
Just as human life cannot survive without water—an essential element—mankind likewise requires divine guidance to live righteously on Earth. Without it, we risk getting lost in the illusions of this world. In His mercy, God has sent revelations and messengers to every nation throughout history. The Qur’an is the final and ultimate guidance for humanity. No further messengers will come, for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Seal of the Prophets, and Islam is the final religion.
● The All-Encompassing Mercy of Allah
God’s mercy does not merely embrace His vast creation—humans, animals, oceans, mountains, planets, galaxies, and beyond. It also extends to the depths of the human heart, encompassing all emotions and experiences. His mercy envelops your fears, anxieties, sadness, uncertainties, pain, disappointments, struggles, weaknesses, and setbacks.
At the same time, it encompasses your victories, joys, relief, strength, contentment, hopes, and dreams. So take everything to Him—both your hardships and your blessings—and allow His mercy to carry you through both the falls and the rises of life.
It all begins with mercy, as nearly every chapter of the Qur’an—except one—opens with:
"In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."
In Surat Al-Fatiha, which we recite in every prayer multiple times daily, He introduces Himself first and foremost as the Most Merciful and Most Compassionate.
His mercy continues to manifest throughout the Qur’an, where He repeatedly reminds us of it—mentioned hundreds of times. Surat Maryam, for instance, is filled with references to Allah’s mercy amid the hardships faced by prophets such as Zakariya, Maryam, Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa—peace be upon them all.
And it all ends with His mercy, as He reassures us:
"On that Day no soul will be wronged in the least, nor will you be rewarded except for what you used to do." (Surat Yasin, 54)
Let us acknowledge and be grateful to the Most Beneficent Master, who has bestowed upon us this beautiful life, our families, and countless blessings. If we live with gratitude, submit to God, and fulfill our responsibilities, we will find success in both this life and the Hereafter.
May we be among those who receive God’s mercy and compassion in all that we do, and may we spread mercy and compassion wherever we go. Ameen.
May be an image of text that says "So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah- how He gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that [same one] will give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent. {Ar-Rum, 30:50} mymuslimwodd.tumblr tumblr"
