An egg (or two) is about the closest natural food source to a daily multivitamin that is affordable on every budget and easily digestible by most people.

And unlike synthetic vitamins, the vitamins contained in an egg are maximally bioavailable (meaning that they are in an ideal form and combination for the human body to absorb and metabolize), and are paired with essential minerals, saturated fat, cholesterol and protein, and in safe concentrations.
(If you can afford the higher price tag of pasture-raised eggs, do choose them for their superior nutrient profile. In general, the richer orange the color of a pastured egg yolk is, the better quality the diet of the laying hen was, and the more nutritious the egg will be.
*Beware: Chickens that are not pasture-raised may have coloring agents added to their feed to artificially color the yolks of their eggs bright yellow or dark orange.)
The apple in the familiar adage, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” should be replaced by an egg—or at least accompanied by one.
