1. Physical addiction: Your body craves some more nicotine after about 2 hours of your last cigarette.
2. Mental addiction: Smokers love the thought of lighting a cigarette, holding it in their hands, and blowing out smoke. Even when we don’t really need to smoke, we smoke because we have formed a habit mentally.
3. Stress: I am not sure about how to scientifically back this up, but yes, smoking does make me feel more calm and relaxed in stressful/anxious situations. This is the main reason why some people start smoking.
4. Atmosphere: There are certain atmospheres which make us want to smoke. Like sitting by the fireplace, listening to some good music or reading a book. It’s pleasing to smoke at these times.
5. After a meal: It’s like our meal is incomplete if we don’t smoke after it.
