Boomslang or Tree Snake : Story of an American Zoologist

Boomslang or simply tree snake. Although not particularly aggressive, if threatened they could bite and the effects would be devastating.

Karl P. Schmidt, an American zoologist, after being bitten by this snake, dedicated his last hours of life to documenting the effects that the venom had on his body and it was definitely not a pleasant death.
Nausea, chills followed by tremors and a rapid increase in body temperature with loss of blood from the mouth and urine. He bled throughout the night from various orifices, including the nose and eyes, before losing consciousness and dying practically from blood loss.
