Rainbow Stag Beetle

 Appearance: Looking like its made of metal, it has a sheen that comes in rainbow colors. Hence the name.

Size: Females are 46cm while male rainbow stag beetles can grow to be 70 mm long,
Lifespan: The lifespan of Rainbow stag beetles is up to 18 months.
Flight: Rainbow stag beetles are most often spotted while flying.
Reproduction: A female rainbow stag beetle lays up to 50 eggs in rotting wood. The eggs will hatch after 10–14 days.
Predators: The natural predators are birds.
Habitat: Rainbow stag beetles are found in Australia and New Guinea.
Symbol: It is the official symbol of the Entomological Society of Queensland since 1973.
Name: Also known as the Phalacrognathus Muelleri, ‘magnificent’, ‘the king’, or Mueller's stag beetle named after Baron Ferdinand Von Muller.
